What does it mean to be test-optional?

Test optional is a college’s way of saying, “Scores? We’re flexible.” Think of it like a party invitation with an optional dress code. You can show up in your finest tuxedo (your amazing test scores) if you think it makes you look sharp. Or, you can come in your favorite smart casual outfit (your grades, essays, and activities) if that’s where you truly shine.

It gives you the power to decide if your SAT or ACT score is a good reflection of your genius. Just remember, optional does not mean ignored. A great score can still be a powerful asset, but a missing score will not get your application tossed into the shredder
