Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, you should. Despite the adoption of test-optional policies during the pandemic, many universities, such as Georgetown and Georgia Tech, along with some in California, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, and Washington, DC, have maintained their testing requirements. Additionally, prestigious institutions, such as Ivy League universities like MIT and Dartmouth, have reinstated their requirement for students to submit either SAT or ACT scores.

We always advise our students to take standardized tests and strive for impressive scores because doing so can significantly enhance their college applications. Submitting strong test scores can help differentiate you from other applicants and provide admissions officers with a concrete measure of your academic abilities. While some schools may not require test scores, having them can still strengthen your application and demonstrate your readiness for college-level work. In a competitive admissions landscape, high standardized test scores can be a key factor in showcasing your potential for success.

  • Find universities that support your academic and professional aspirations. Begin by evaluating the curriculum offerings to see if they cater to your interests and future career goals. Consider the campus culture to determine if it matches your personality, values, and extracurricular interests. The location is another critical factor; think about whether you thrive in a rural, suburban, or urban setting and the distance from home. Additionally, consider the size of the college, class sizes, available resources, and support services.

Our admissions consultants provide personalized guidance by conducting a comprehensive analysis of your interests, skills, talents, strengths, and weaknesses. They help you narrow down your options through detailed research and tailored advice. Our goal is to ensure you get admitted to a college where you have every opportunity to excel, both academically and personally, thereby setting a solid foundation for your future success.

  • It is incredibly difficult to get accepted into an Ivy League. The competition is tough, the academic standards are steep, and they only accept a handful among the thousands of applicants. From a range of 30,00 to 50,000 applicants, all Ivy League universities accept less than 7%, with some having rates lower than 4%. These steep acceptance rates extend far beyond the Ivy League, as many top institutions within the United States have comparable rates.

This is why it’s important to begin working with an experienced college admissions consultant as early as sophomore year to improve your chances of admission. We will help you plan, strategize, and prepare for all facets of your application, which include choosing the right extracurricular activities, implementing passion projects, improving your grades, preparing for the SAT or ACT, crafting your admissions essay, and preparing for the admissions interview. Along the way, you will learn important life skills that will help you beyond college admission.

  • There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to choosing extracurricular activities. The best extracurricular activity is one that takes into account your personal interest while also showing off your positive qualities such as leadership, grit, commitment, and more. Colleges look for applicants who demonstrate depth and dedication in their extracurricular pursuits. Participating in activities that highlight your unique talents and experiences can set you apart from other candidates.

Our personalized approach to admissions counseling enables us to recommend activities that are specifically designed for our students. We take into account factors like your academic and personal objectives, your social network, and how well the activity fits into the major you’re applying to. Our strategies are based on years of college admissions experience as well as our understanding of the requirements that various universities have for candidates. This ensures that the activities you engage in effectively bolster your college applications.
