How many times can I take the SAT?

You can take the SAT as many times as you like. Seriously, there’s no official limit. But just because you can take it seven times doesn’t mean you should. Most students take it two or three times to improve their scores without burning out or raising eyebrows.

Many colleges use “superscoring,” which means they take your best section scores from different dates. That’s great news if you nail math one time and crush reading the next. The key is preparation, not repetition. Take a diagnostic test, get a game plan, and aim to peak early. You’ll save time, stress, and possibly a few Saturday mornings.
