What’s the average SAT score in New York?

As of the latest College Board data, the average SAT score in New York is about 1054. That includes a 529 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and a 525 in Math. But remember, New York is academically all over the map—from high-powered prep schools to large public schools—so averages only tell part of the story.

At competitive schools in Manhattan or Westchester, “average” scores might be significantly higher. What matters most is where you want to apply. Some colleges expect 1500+, while others are fine with a solid 1200. Know your goals, prep with purpose, and use the average as a guide—not a limit.
