How many times can I take the SAT?

Technically, you can take the SAT as many times as you want. There’s no official limit, and the College Board won’t stop you from retesting until you’re happy with your score. That said, most students take it two to three times. More than that, and it starts to look like you’re spinning your wheels.

The good news? Colleges usually only see the scores you choose to send. Some even “superscore,” meaning they’ll take your best section scores across different test dates. So if your math game was strong in March but reading popped in May, they’ll combine the best of both. Practice smart, test smart, and don’t stress over hitting it perfectly on the first try.
