What kind of passion and dedication is the Bishop’s School interested in, and how can my child highlight theirs?

Think of passion and dedication as what truly lights your childs up and makes them unique. It could be anything from playing the violin, coding video games, volunteering at an animal shelter, or creating artistic pieces through sculpture. Bishop’s isn’t necessarily looking for a specific type of passion, but rather the depth and level of commitment to it.

To highlight this in your child’s application, encourage them to showcase their journey. Have they consistently practiced their instrument and performed during recitals? Perhaps they’ve even won awards in contests! Do they regularly dedicate their weekends doing their hobbies?

In their personal statements, application essays, or admissions interviews, they can share specific anecdotes, challenges they’ve overcome, and what they learned from pursuing their passion. Recommendation letters from teachers or mentors involved in these activities can also powerfully attest to their dedication and growth. It’s about showing genuine enthusiasm, consistent effort, and the impact their passion has on them.
