Is the Class Shield part of regular classes or an elective?

It’s not your typical class, but it’s definitely a highlight of eighth grade. The Class Shield is part of a special elective—fondly known as “Shield Class”—where students channel their inner artist, engineer, historian, and occasional philosopher. It’s the ultimate creative capstone, giving students the chance to design a coat of arms and motto that captures their class’s spirit, quirks, and legacy. While it doesn’t show up on a traditional syllabus, it’s one of the most meaningful experiences of the year. Think of it as part workshop, part bonding session, and part tradition—with a whole lot of school pride baked right in.
