How many times can students take the SAT and ACT?

Students can take the SAT and ACT multiple times, and most U.S. universities will consider their highest scores.

  • SAT: The SAT is offered seven times a year (March, May, June, August, October, November, December). There is no limit to how many times you can take it.
  • ACT: The ACT is offered 5-6 times a year (February, April, June, July, September, October, December). There is no limit to how many times you can take it.

Our advice is to plan for 2-3 attempts, allowing for improvement without excessive testing. Our test prep programs are designed to help your child achieve their target score efficiently.
