How early should we start planning for U.S. private school or college admissions from Luxembourg?

The earlier the better! For U.S. private high schools, we usually suggest jumping in about one to two years before you plan to apply. This gives your child plenty of breathing room to get comfortable with any standardized tests they might need, like the SSAT or ISEE. It’s also a great window for them to really boost their grades and dive into extracurricular activities and interests that make them shine.

When it comes to U.S. colleges and universities, we often tell families in Luxembourg to start getting the ball rolling a bit earlier—two to three years out. begin planning about two to three years out. That extra time can be a total game-changer. It allows for thoughtful SAT and ACT test prep, and gives your child space to build a strong, unique personal profile and craft impactful essays. Plus, it makes navigating all those application deadlines way less stressful. By starting early, you’re giving your child the best possible chance to explore their options thoroughly and present their strongest self to the admissions committees.
