Can my child prepare for the Proctored Writing Sample in advance?

Absolutely. And they should. Just like any skill, writing under time constraints gets better with practice. Your child can strengthen the basics, like grammar and paragraph structure, while also learning how to approach various types of prompts. We recommend timed practice using real prompts to simulate test conditions. That builds familiarity and reduces anxiety. Working with a coach is also incredibly helpful. Our tutors guide students through everything from brainstorming to revision strategies, helping them walk into the test prepared, not panicked. Preparation doesn’t make the writing less authentic; it makes it clearer, more focused, and more effective.
