When should we start SSAT prep if we’re applying from Singapore?

Based on our experience, we typically lean towards kicking off SSAT prep around four to six months before your child’s scheduled test date. That sweet spot works because the exam covers a fair bit of ground, from vocabulary, reading, comprehension, and all sorts of math concepts, and getting a handle on it all just takes time.

Starting early lets your child learn at a steady, comfortable pace. They get to build up those solid test-taking skills and tackle tricky concepts without feeling that last-minute crunch. Plus, it leaves plenty of breathing room for them to do multiple full-length practice tests. Honestly, those are gold for building confidence, fine-tuning their pacing, and just developing the stamina they’ll need for the big day.

If you’re eyeing fall admissions and thinking your child will take the SSAT sometime between October and December, then summer is the ideal time to get started. Jumping in around June or July gives them a good long runway. They can build skills gradually, work through those practice tests, and really strengthen any weak spots. It also gives the test prep tutors the flexibility to adjust the study plan as they go, making every single session more effective. When you prep early, there’s no need to feel rushed or stressed.
