How can students in Switzerland take the Proctored Writing Sample if it’s U.S.-based?

No passport needed. Swiss students can complete the Proctored Writing Sample entirely online from home. The test is typically administered through platforms like Test Innovators and monitored live via Zoom by trained proctors. After registering through the school’s admissions portal or a linked platform, you’ll receive step-by-step instructions, technical setup requirements, and a secure Zoom link.

Most sessions are offered at multiple times to accommodate international families, so students in Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne, or anywhere in between can find a convenient time slot. During the test, a live proctor oversees the session, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that the essay is completed without outside help. Students will have exactly 30 minutes to plan, write, and submit their response.

We strongly recommend Swiss students complete at least one full-length practice session beforehand. This builds familiarity with the platform, eases nerves, and helps prevent last-minute tech issues—so the real thing feels a lot less intimidating.
