Are dorms co-ed?

Not exactly. At most boarding schools, dorms are single-gender, even if the school itself is co-ed. Some campuses may have co-ed buildings, but you’ll usually find boys on one floor and girls on another, with clear boundaries in place. Shared rooms are same-gender, and no, sneaking across the hall isn’t encouraged. Schools strike a balance between community and privacy. They want students to feel comfortable and respected while still getting to know classmates of all genders in a healthy, supportive environment. So yes, there are rules—curfews, check-ins, and plenty of adult supervision—but there’s also a strong sense of trust, inclusion, and independence.
