Choosing between the SAT and ACT isn’t about which test is “better”; it’s about which one suits you. As an international student from Dubai, your academic experience, whether in an IB, British, or American curriculum school, might align more with one format over the other. If you’re stronger in Algebra and prefer extra time to work through questions, the SAT might feel more comfortable. If you’re quicker on your feet and confident with topics like Geometry and interpreting scientific data, the ACT could be a better match.
The best way to find out? Try both. Our practice tests give you a low-stress way to experience each format before committing. We’ll help you choose the path that plays to your strengths and gets results.

Test optional is a college’s way of saying, “Scores? We’re flexible.” Think of it like a party invitation with an optional dress code. You can show up in your finest tuxedo (your amazing test scores) if you think it makes you look sharp. Or, you can come in your favorite smart casual outfit (your grades, essays, and activities) if that’s where you truly shine.
It gives you the power to decide if your SAT or ACT score is a good reflection of your genius. Just remember, optional does not mean ignored. A great score can still be a powerful asset, but a missing score will not get your application tossed into the shredder
That is the million dollar question. Asking if the SAT is harder than the ACT is like asking if a ghost pepper is spicier than a habanero. It really just depends on your personal taste for pain.
The ACT is a fast paced sprint. It includes a science section that tests how well you read charts and graphs. The SAT gives you a bit more time per question, letting you ponder the mysteries of the universe and its math problems a little longer.
Neither is objectively “harder.” One just might fit your brain’s unique wiring better than the other. The only way to know your flavor of challenge is to try them both.
Absolutely not! Please do not put yourself through that. Submitting both the SAT and ACT is like wearing a belt with suspenders. It is completely redundant and shows a slight lack of confidence. Colleges view both tests equally and have no secret preference, despite what you might hear.
Your mission is to figure out which test you are better at, focus all your energy on conquering that single exam, and then send in your highest score. One knockout score is infinitely more impressive to an admissions officer than two mediocre ones. Pick your champion, train it well, and let it fight the battle for you. It is all about strategy.
SAT scores do not improve over time in the same way that cheese or fine wine does. Leaving your score report in a dark cellar for a year will, unfortunately, do nothing. Your scores improve because you improve.
It is all about targeted practice, learning from your mistakes, and getting familiar with the test’s sneaky tricks. Think of it like leveling up in a video game. You do not gain experience points just by waiting around. You have to actively go out and battle some pesky algebra problems and treacherous reading passages. So yes, scores improve with effort and strategy, not with the passing of calendar pages.
