Because of its reputation as a top-tier school, University Prep ranks highly across multiple lists. On the list of Best College Prep Private High Schools, UPrep ranks 2nd in King County, 4th in the Seattle Area, 4th in Washington State, and 194 out of 4546 in the entire United States. On the list of Best Private High Schools, the school ranks 4th in King County, 5th in both the Seattle Area and Washington, and 231 out of 4990 in the entire United States. For students who are STEM-inclined, UPrep ranks 7th in King County, the Seattle Area, and Washington State. - How does UPrep support its students?
UPrep understands that adolescence is a tricky period for any individual. This is why the school provides a variety of resources in order to guide students through tricky social scenarios while also maximizing their potential for growth. Each grade level, and by extension each student, is paired with a counselor who will follow them through their time at UPrep. This is done to allow deep relationships to form between counselor and student. Counselors actively participate in the community, monitoring the social and emotional of everyone in order to foster a safe and caring learning environment. Furthermore, UPrep utilizes Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs that help students how to move through the world with intention and purpose. The SEL curriculum involves UPrep teachers infusing lessons and projects that teach reflection, teamwork, organizational skills, recognizing strengths, and perspective-taking. Students meet weekly through Community Time to develop their SEL skills in structured settings.
- Is Community Service required at UPrep?
Due to UPrep’s deep belief in the power of community to develop responsible global citizens, community service is an integral part of the UPrep school experience. Middle school students at UPrep do not have a community service requirement however there are many opportunities for students to get involved through on-campus opportunities such as the Parent Guardian Association and other events and clubs. The UPrep Upper School on the other hand requires that each student completes a minimum of 80 hours by graduation. Students are of course encouraged to do more than 80 years of service for its community. The school requires these service hours in order to teach its students how to be socially responsible students. Students should check the Veracross Student Portal for detailed information on community service. Some examples of on-campus opportunities include Student Ambassador for the Admission and Enrollment Office, Thanksgiving pie bake, and Math Helpers. Students who want to volunteer off-campus can do so with opportunities like Reading Buddies, Food Banks, Park cleanups, and more!
