Greene Hill School is an independent school for lower school and middle school students. Its progressive education is geared toward producing graduates who are active socially-minded activists and active members of a democratic society. What’s unique about their program is the implementation of Open Work wherein children are allowed to choose what materials they are interested to work on either independently or with peers. This activity is done once or twice a week and develops their confidence to face challenges and deal with more complicated tasks in the future. Students take initiatives in community service such as giving food or clothing to the needy for the younger students and working with local agencies to pursue community-related projects for the older ones.
