If a school is test-optional, should I still submit test scores?

Absolutely. You should submit test scores to the college or university when applying even if they are test-optional. Your scores will show if you are prepared for the tougher coursework they are offering. High test scores can serve as an extra piece of information to enhance your application and distinguish you from other candidates.

However, it’s important to note that standardized test scores are just one component of the comprehensive admissions process. Many universities evaluate your academic capabilities using your test scores, along with other factors like grades, extracurricular activities, accomplishments, personal statements, essays, and recommendation letters. Together, these elements offer a more holistic evaluation of your skills, personality, and suitability for the organization. Sending in your test scores can improve your application, but it’s crucial to make sure the rest of your application is just as impressive.
