- What summer programs does Wildwood School offer?
To ensure that the learning never stops over the summer, Wildwood School offers a variety of programs. Adventure week, open to incoming 1st graders all the way up to 6th grade and their families, sees students exploring various fun destinations around the city. Destinations are age-appropriate and in the past have included places such as Knott’s Berry Farm, Newport Dunes Water Park, Adventure City, and more! Wild Dayz Expert Edition, open to incoming 1st graders all the way up to 6th grade and their families, allows students to explore their passions. Led by experts, campers themselves become experts in a class of their choosing! This may involve pottery, Jedi Master, dance, and more!
The Wildwood Summer Pea Pods Program, open to incoming kindergarteners only, is a program that serves to introduce children to the Wildwood community in order to create a feeling of familiarity before the start of the school year. The Summer Theater Program is open to incoming 2nd graders all the way to 9th grade. In this program, campers will rehearse and perform a musical! Counselor-in-Training (CIT) allows older students, incoming 9th graders, and 10 graders, to assist with camp activities. These counselors-in-training learn the skills necessary to lead young children while also serving as positive role models.

Wildwood School is deeply committed to supporting its local community while also teaching its students to grow as ethical citizens who act on a local and global scale. The Community Involvement program for elementary school students sees them engaging with projects that follow their coursework. The school ensures that each grade level undergoes a diverse community engagement experience while applying life skills. For Middle School, the program teaches students to identify threats to the community and use problem-solving skills to create solutions that further strengthen ties. For the Upper School, the Community Involvement Program pushes students to realize their individual roles as both members and leaders of society. Students work with a variety of Los Angeles organizations that have worked with the school through long-standing partnerships. Some examples of community involvement that students may experience across their years in Wildwood include helping the homeless, supplying veterans with aid, studying animal migration patterns, connecting with senior citizens, and more.

Yes, it does! The Wildwood School has a robust alumni network that keeps all 50 years’ worth of alumni interconnected. The alumni network organizes a variety of programming throughout the year to ensure that the connection-making never stops. Reunions are held weekly and invite specific classes to celebrate special milestones (5 years, 10 years, 15 years, and 20 years!). Alumni are also encouraged to submit any news to the school! Accomplishments and even life events such as weddings and births are shared in the Wildwood Pride Newsletter. In the spirit of creating connections, the Wildwood Alumni network has also helped numerous alumni develop careers by sharing potential job offerings and internship opportunities. The alumni network is run by volunteers who are actively involved by serving on committees, volunteering for specific events, or even serving as speakers on campus to future alumni, the current Wildwood students. Alumni are also encouraged to support the school through donations, no matter the amount!
