Application Forms
Every applicant submits the MA Preliminary Application Form, the Bay Area Independent High Schools (BAIHS) Student Activity and Interest Form, an MA Parent/Guardian Application Form, and an MA Student Application Form, all through Ravenna.
Recommendations & Transcript
Required recommendations come from the applicant’s current math teacher, current English teacher, and principal or counselor. Transcripts covering the past two years plus the current year are also required.
Graded Writing Sample
A required piece of previously graded academic writing, submitted as part of the application. Since Marin Academy is test-free, this sample carries real weight in the academic portion of the review.
Interview (Required, Three Formats)
Every applicant completes one interview, choosing between a 1:1 Conversation, a collaborative Design Workshop in the school’s Design Lab, or a Passage Discussion built around a short piece of literature.
