About the School
Overview of St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Upper School
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School (SSSAS) educates students on three genuinely separate campuses across Alexandria, Virginia: the Lower School on Fontaine Street, the Middle School on West Braddock Road, and the Upper School on St. Stephen’s Road. The Upper School serves Grades 9–12 on its own dedicated campus, guided by the school’s Episcopal tradition and its mission of pursuing “Knowledge + Goodness Together.” Prospective Upper School students are encouraged to complete a Shadow Day, spending a half-day, including lunch, alongside current Upper School students.

What Makes SSSAS Upper School’s Admissions Process Unique?
The Upper School admissions process stands out because it takes place entirely on its own dedicated campus on St. Stephen’s Road, completely separate from SSSAS’s Lower and Middle Schools. Consequently, all admissions events—including Open Houses and immersive Shadow Days where prospective students spend a half-day attending classes and eating lunch with current students—are hosted specifically at this location. Additionally, all Upper School applicants are uniquely required to take and submit official SSAT scores to evaluate academic readiness across math, reading, and verbal skills.
