Overview of St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Middle School
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School (SSSAS) educates students on three genuinely separate campuses across Alexandria, Virginia: the Lower School on Fontaine Street, the Middle School on West Braddock Road, and the Upper School on St. Stephen’s Road.
The Middle School serves Grades 6–8 with roughly 100 students per grade, guided by the school’s Episcopal tradition and its mission of pursuing “Knowledge + Goodness Together.” Every sixth grader takes SAINTS Skills, the Middle School’s signature course in executive functioning and study skills, and students take part in grade-level overnight bonding trips designed to build community from day one.

What Sets St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Middle School Admissions Apart?
Applicants to the Middle School complete the SSAT as the required standardized test, demonstrating their academic readiness for the program. Because SSSAS Middle School occupies its own dedicated Braddock Road campus, separate from the Lower and Upper Schools, admission is a genuinely distinct process from applying to either of the school’s other divisions, with its own timeline, assessment, and shadow day experience specific to Grades 6–8.
