Milton Academy Upper School students can apply to three highly selective off-campus semester programs: the Maine Coast Semester at Chewonki, School Year Abroad (with locations in China, France, Italy, and Spain), and The Mountain School in Vermont. All three combine rigorous academics with an immersive, place-based experience away from Milton’s main campus for a semester.
Maine Coast Semester (Chewonki)
Hosted at the Chewonki Foundation in Maine, the Maine Coast Semester combines environmental studies and sustainability with a full academic course load, set in a coastal, outdoor-oriented campus environment.
School Year Abroad
School Year Abroad places students with host families in one of four countries, China, France, Italy, or Spain, for a semester or full year of language immersion combined with Milton-equivalent academics, taught alongside students from other participating schools.

Located on a working farm in Vermont, The Mountain School combines a full academic course load with hands-on sustainable agriculture and rural living, in a small, tightly-knit cohort of students drawn from schools across the country.
