Quick Answer for Busy Parents
The BASIS Independent Fremont Upper School (Grades 6–12) offers 28 AP courses and 17 Post-AP courses, followed by senior-year Capstone courses. Its spiraled curriculum revisits and deepens concepts year after year, so students reach college-level work well before graduation. The Class of 2026 posted an SAT range of 1433–1550.
A Spiraled Curriculum
BASIS describes its curriculum as globally recognized and spiraled: concepts return each year at greater depth instead of being taught once and left behind. Upper School students study humanities, math and science, interdisciplinary studies, world languages (Mandarin, Latin, French, and Spanish), the arts, physical education, enrichment and electives, and senior-year Capstone courses. Classes average about 15 students, with a 10:1 student-teacher ratio, and 65% of faculty hold advanced degrees.
AP, Then Post-AP
At most schools, AP courses are the top of the ladder. At BASIS Fremont, they’re a rung in the middle. With 28 AP courses and 17 Post-AP courses, students who finish AP work keep going into college-level study beyond the AP syllabus.
| Stage | How Many | What It Means |
| AP courses | 28 | Advanced Placement study across subjects |
| Post-AP courses | 17 | College-level work beyond AP |
| Senior Capstone | Senior year | Capstone courses that complete the sequence |
Is Your Child Ready for This Pace?
We help families assess readiness and build the habits that make an accelerated curriculum work.
Senior Capstone Courses
Senior year at BASIS Fremont includes Capstone courses, the final stage of the Upper School sequence. By then, students have typically worked through AP and Post-AP material.
What This Means for Your Child
- Strong study habits matter as much as raw ability; the workload builds every year.
- Students benefit from steady time management, especially in AP years.
- Families should talk early about balance, rest, and activities outside class.
- Students entering in middle school get more time to adjust to the pace than those entering in Grade 9.
