Discovering Rowland Hall
Founded in 1867, Rowland Hall is Utah’s oldest school and an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school serving PreK through Grade 12 in Salt Lake City. Rowland Hall is also home to Rowmark Ski Academy, an elite ski-racing program with an Olympic legacy dating back decades. Note for families planning ahead: Rowland Hall is in the midst of a major campus transition, with its new Richard R. Steiner Campus set to open December 2, 2026, uniting the Middle School, Upper School, athletics, and performing arts into a single location next to the existing McCarthey Campus for the first time in more than 40 years.

What the Rowland Hall Application Requires
To apply to Rowland Hall, you will need to submit the following:

Submitted through the Rowland Hall application portal, the parent statement allows parents to share their unique perspective on their child’s character, strengths, and personal interests, helping the admission committee understand why Rowland Hall is a strong fit for your family.

The student statement provides the admissions committee with a direct sense of your child’s voice, perspective, and values. This form focuses on your child’s interests, curiosity, and collaborative nature, offering insight into how they might contribute to the Rowland Hall community. Applicants must submit current academic transcripts, which provide the admissions committee with a record of the student’s academic performance and history. Rowland Hall requires confidential recommendations from the student’s current teachers, as well as a report from their school principal or counselor, all of which are submitted via the Rowland Hall application portal.
