Quick Answer for Busy Parents
Year 12 is the start of Aiglon’s two-year IB Diploma Programme, and it’s the one entry point where an in-person visit is required. Every Year 12 applicant must attend a Full Admissions Visit on campus in Chesières, which includes an introduction to Aiglon, a campus tour, an interview, online assessments, and a math test on general topics.
Why Year 12 Is Different
Most applicants, from Years 5 through 11, can complete Aiglon’s interview and assessments online. Year 12 is the exception because students are stepping straight into the full two-year IB Diploma Programme, where Aiglon’s average is 36.6 out of 45. The school needs a clear, in-person picture of each student’s readiness for that rigor and for boarding life, and the added math test helps confirm it.
Inside the Full Admissions Visit
The Full Admissions Visit takes about three to four hours and can only be scheduled after you’ve submitted a full application. It brings every part of the assessment into one campus visit.
- An introduction to Aiglon and a campus tour.
- An interview about character, academics, interests, friendships, and the boarding community.
- Online assessments in problem solving, mathematical reasoning, logical thinking, and literacy.
- A mathematics test covering general topics, with a scientific calculator provided.
The Two Visit Types Compared
| Initial Enquiry Visit | Full Admissions Visit | |
| Length | About 1.5 hours | About 3–4 hours |
| What happens | Discussion with admissions and a campus tour | Tour, interview, online assessments, and (for Year 12) a math test |
| When | Any stage, as an introduction | Only after a full application is submitted |
| Year 12 | Optional first step | Required |
Applying for Year 12?
We help students prepare for the interview, the assessments, and the math test so the visit goes smoothly.
How to Prepare
Before the Visit
- Submit reports from the last two years, two teacher contacts, and a passport scan early.
- Review general math topics and practice with a scientific calculator.
- Think through why the IB Diploma and Aiglon’s mountain community fit your child’s goals.
During the Visit
Encourage your child to treat the interview as a real conversation. Aiglon wants to know where their enthusiasm lies and how they’ll contribute to boarding life. Use the campus visit to ask about houses, expeditions, and university advising.
After the Visit
Aiglon communicates decisions monthly. If your child lands on the waiting list, it may reflect limited space in a year group, pathway, or boarding house, and waitlisted applicants are reviewed every month.
Making Year 12 Entry Work
Joining a boarding school for the final two years is a big transition. We help Year 12 applicants prepare for the visit, strengthen their math with academic coaching where needed, and plan the move with confidence.
