Club Life at Blanchet
With 150+ clubs and activities on offer, Blanchet’s extracurricular program spans far beyond the standard student-government-and-yearbook model. Verified, named examples include the Art Club, open to students across all skill levels and mediums; the Blanchet Spirit Club, which organizes school spirit activities around each sports season; and a student book club focused on discussion-driven reading. An outdoors-focused club brings students together around shared appreciation for the outdoors, drawing students of varying experience levels into a shared community.
Affinity Groups
Distinct from Blanchet’s general-interest clubs, the school supports five official student affinity groups, spaces built around shared identity rather than shared interest: the Asian Pacific Islander Student Union, Black Student Union, Latinx Student Union, Mixed Student Union, and One Body. All five are guided by faculty moderators and student leaders, and are supported campus-wide by Blanchet’s Multicultural Affairs Council.
Athletics and the Metro League
Blanchet fields 15 sports across 46 athletic teams, competing in the Metro League under the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA). The full sports list: cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, fastpitch softball, lacrosse, tennis, track and field, ultimate frisbee, and cheer.

Publications and School Spirit
Blanchet supports two long-running student publications: The Miter, a monthly student newspaper published throughout the school year, and Pallium, the school’s yearbook. Together with the Spirit Club’s game-day and assembly programming, these publications give students consistent, visible ways to build a record of sustained extracurricular involvement, something Cardinal Education’s consultants encourage over a scattershot list of one-time activities on an application file.
