V for Vendetta
Overview & Summary
Set in a dystopian, fascist near-future Britain, this graphic novel follows a mysterious masked anarchist known only as V, who wages a theatrical campaign of terrorism and assassination against the totalitarian government. V rescues a young woman, Evey, from the secret police and gradually draws her into his crusade, forcing her -- and the reader -- to weigh the costs of political violence against the horrors of unchecked authoritarian rule. Alan Moore and illustrator David Lloyd's series is considered a landmark of the graphic novel form.
