Coyote Autumn
Overview & Summary
After moving from Chicago to rural Oklahoma, twelve-year-old Brad witnesses hunters using dogs to wipe out the local coyote population and rescues the sole surviving pup, secretly raising it as a pet he names Scooter. When his parents discover the coyote, they're won over despite themselves, but a returning hunter forces Brad to make the painful choice to release Scooter back into the wild. Bill Wallace's novel is a tender story about loving something enough to let it go free.
