Cardinal Education runs a non-profit, Student Athletes in the Community (SAC), which supports high school athletes in pursuing leadership and community service opportunities, so that they understand the importance of being winners on and off the field. We currently run an after-school tutoring program for the Menlo-Atherton High School Football teams, providing academic and mentoring assistance to the football team. In our first year, we kept the entire varsity squad academically eligible for the first time in the school’s 56-year history. Since last year, we have expanded our commitment to helping the Freshman-Sophomore team as well. Moreover, we are elevating our goals for the student-athletes by improving college matriculation rates, and being more ambitious in terms of grades instead of simply keeping players eligible. The program has also helped to strengthen team unity and create great camaraderie among the students. This has ensured that the interactions, bonds and interests shared by the students go beyond the football field.
